Working from home is quickly growing in popularity.  Not only can working from home provide supplemental income, it can also allow those who would like to earn full-time income for part-time work, to turn affiliate marketing into a fun and rewarding business. The first thing that you’re going to need is an area of expertise or specialty, this is known as your Niche. Your Niche can consist of any skill, hobby or interest that you enjoy or that you’ve done in the past or just something that your very good at and you know that others will benefit from your knowledge and expertise in that area.

The next thing to get is going be a list of merchants that provide the best products or services for your Niche market.  You’ll want to find the best ones for your target audience and really get to know their product inside and out so that you can recommend their product or service with 100% complete confidence, believe and total conviction.  

By only associating with products and services that you truly do believe in you will feel good about each and every commission that you earn. Next you’ll need to get a good understanding of what keywords are, how they’re used and how to do keyword research, this is the basis of search engine optimization (SEO).  SEO is the main tool that you’ll be focusing on to get your best results from your affiliate marketing time and efforts.

It will also be helpful for you to have a basic understanding of html (a html cheat sheet will do). This html knowledge will come in handy when you’re posting on different classified advertising websites, community blogs, forums and other online places.

You’ll want to get a very good understanding of how to promote your merchants product (s)  or service(s) and create targeted traffic. Here are a few of the ways you’ll be able to promote your merchants product(s) or service(s) :

1.) By learning search engine optimization (SEO) to optimizing your content with the effective use of keywords, so that you’re able to get maximum search engine results from search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and many others. 

2.) By learning and doing article marketing, which can help promote your content all over the internet, especially when you create top quality, high value content that other people want and can benefit from. 

3.) By getting involved and contributing valuable information to forums related to your Niche, this can be a very effective way of branding yourself as an expert in your market.
